NewGen Kwinana

NewGen Kwinana Power Station (NewGen Kwinana) is a 320MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station currently under construction at Kwinana in Western Australia. In 2005, Babcock & Brown and its partner, ERM Power, won the right to develop NewGen Kwinana through a competitive tender process for a 25 year off-take contract. When completed, NewGen Kwinana will be a modern, high efficiency CCGT, with supplementary duct firing to increase output from the steam cycle when required.

The plant configuration gives NewGen Kwinana the flexibility to vary its output in response to market requirements. The power station is being constructed under a turnkey construction contract by Alstom Power, a world leading manufacturer of power generation equipment and is expected to be completed in late 2008.
